Until 2015, YTTC was affiliated to Kyambogo University, Uganda. A university renowned in sub-Sahara Africa for providing high international standards of teaching and learning. In this relationship Kyambogo University was the examining and awarding mandate for Grade 3 and 5 qualifications, providing assessment and examinations for YTTC in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, South Sudan.

However, from 2016, YTTC is now fully affiliated to the University of Juba. All the students will be examined and awarded certificates and diplomas by the UoJ. This affiliation included the introduction of a diploma in teacher education in 2016. Until then, YTTC remained the only teacher training college in South Sudan offering diplomas
